Featured Wine

Riesling

Schwartz Katz - Moselland Zeller - 2006

Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

According to legend, three wine merchants came to the town of Zell (in Germany) to buy wine. In one of the cellars, they tasted several wines out of different barrels. They had narrowed the choice to three barrels but they couldn’t agree on which one was the best. They were about to take another sample, when a black cat suddenly jumped on one of the barrels, arched its back, its fur standing on end, and swiped its paw at anyone who tried to get closer. The wine merchants quickly came to an agreement and chose the barrel which was so obstinately defended by the cat, thinking that it probably contained the best wine.

Nose of tropical fruit and rich floral tones. Light body with medium sweetness and light acids. Brilliant pairing with a light salad or spicy Asian cuisine.

Salice Salentino

Reserva – 2001, Candido

Sandonaci - Italy

Owned by brothers Alessandro and Giacomo Candido, the Candido estate in the Salentino district of Puglia is at the forefront of a small, influential cadre of wineries who have attracted international attention to the increasingly stylish, quality wines emerging from Italy's south.

The wine, 85% Negroamaro and 15% Malvasia Nera, is soft garnet red in color with a nose of tobacco leaves and dried fruits. Suggestions of licorice and dried ripe fruits as well as a strong acid presence make this a great food wine. Pairs well with beef and pork dishes.
